As most of you already know (and whoever who don’t have probably guessed through the title of the post), I spent last weekend in San Diego, known by its great weather, beaches and attractions. Not so many days, but a lot of things to tell... and 307 pictures taken, hehe.
Graham and me were staying at Hard Rock Hotel, located in the Gaslamp Quarter, the historic heart of San Diego (yeah, I said Hard Rock Hotel!). We spent the first day strolling into Embarcadero (as it is written, en español) and in the Seaport Village, were we end up eating fish and seafood. Back to the hotel, we put our names in the list that would give us access to the hotel bars (as far as we got in before 10pm) and went to the restaurant in which we had decided to have dinner. The restaurant, Nobu, which was one of the restaurants belonging to the Hard Rock Hotel (http://www.hardrockhotelsd.com/dining-&-nightlife/nobu), had no table available before 9.45pm. This meant we had to take a decision: either the dinner or the access to the bars. Obviously, we chose dinner, and didn’t regret the decision. Dressed up, we chose the Omakase (basically a tasting menu, chef’s choice). Dish after dish, dinner was an authentic pleasure for all senses… Two cold dishes, two hot ones, miso soup, sushi and a bento box for dessert, with its chocolate cake and its green tea ice cream. No words can describe it.
Next day we went to Seaworld. No question about it, Shamu rocks!! (For newbies’ information, Shamu is the killer whale of San Diego’s Seaworld).
On Sunday, we met our friend Tom, who picked us from Hard Rock Hotel and drove us to La Jolla. The name of the place, took after the Spanish translation of the word jewel, it’s a real jewel itself. Surrounded by really expensive and cool houses, sandy beaches are here and there. After playing a little bit with waves and sunbathe, we went to have lunch at a place called Miami Grill, where the menu is basically an interesting mixture (fusion, as it is usually called) of Spanish, Cuban and Brazilian cuisine. We spent the rest of the evening en La Jolla, enjoying the sea animals. At late evening we went to Tom’s, where we had a wonderful home-made dinner (two boys cooking for me! Thanks, boys, I really enjoyed dinner!), and I slept Final Fantasy movie practically from the beginning to the end.
We spent whole Monday at the San Diego Zoo, befote taking the flight back to San Jose. Pandas, reptiles and elephants…. No animal I can think of wasn’t there… expect for platypus… (Which animal is that, by the way?)
And here you have some more pictures for finishing the story ;)
